Glow Party Backdrop

We needed a way to transform our basement into a very dark environment for our daughter's 10th Birthday party.  She hit the big 1-0!!! Crazy feeling for this momma!

She requested a black light/glow party so having it very dark was a must!  We also use our basement for a variety of different things: home school, my craft/work studio, hubby's man cave, storage... so we needed to cover a lot of that up too.

I moved as much of the loose items up against the walls and used a black plastic sheeting from Walmart to go around the main room where the party would be.  I used not quite two rolls of the plastic in the photo below:

Each roll was about $10 each, so for $20 there was plenty for what we needed.  It went up SO FAST AND EASY with a staple gun and some packing tape.

It also created a great backdrop to add decor and our stations to!!!!

I created a video to show the process of how this backdrop went up, just click the link below.

DIY Glow Balloons

We had a total blast at my daughter's 10th birthday party.  The glow in the dark/black light theme was a BIG hit with all of her teenybopper friends!

We added lots of neon elements to the decor so there was lots of things to be glowing once the lights were out.  I needed something that would help light up the floor and balloons came to mind.  We found some neon balloons that were black light reflective but they didn't glow REAL bright like I had hoped.  So we came up with a different solutions to this problem, one that was easy and super cute!

Check out the video below to see how we transformed our balloons into cool party decor!

DIY Mason Jar Spice Drawer

First question....
Who thought it was a good idea to put their spices in those tiny cabinets above the stove?  I did!  Until you actually go to cook, have a hot food either popping or bubbling on the stove, and you need to reach above those hot pots/pans to get those needed spices.  Then they you think to yourself, every single time, well that's not a very good idea.

FINALLY finally I have taken the time to solve that very problem.

I actually hunted Pinterest for a very long time trying to find the best solution.  I love organization solutions!  I came across this PIN and knew it was the right one for me and my kitchen.  My spices are now right next to my stove where I can easily grab what I need, no fuss, no danger involved, and it's made a world of difference!

I have included a video here of the process I used to organize my spice drawer.  I hope it inspires you!

DIY Pallet Clock (Part 2)

Sometimes there are DIY projects that go just as planned... this one took some extra elbow grease.

None the less, the end product was worth all the hang up.  It is such a beautiful piece!

So my first word of advice, don't get your clock kid from Hobby Lobby.  Mine was broke and missing pieces, even though it was brand new and not opened or tampered with.  We ended up buying a second set from a clock supplier on Amazon.

Second piece of advice, make sure you wood is as thin as you can get it to be.  The post on the clock kit is only so long.  We had to do some extra sanding on the back for the clock workings box would fit.

Lastly this clock is 24" wide and needed a high torque clock kit.  If your clock is smaller, order a kit that matches your size of clock.

My new video is the 2nd part of the Pallet Clock tutorial, you can see the first part in my Day in the Life of a DIYer post here:
