Baby it's cold outside - Wood Entry Sign

The best wood signs are the ones you can keep up and enjoy longer than one month out of the year.  This "baby it's cold outside" wood entry sign can be used all winter long, but also fits into the different holidays that fall within the winter months.  That is a win win if you ask me.

The dimensions of this entry sign is 11.25" wide x 48" tall.  I used a 1"x12" oak common board for this wood sign.  I also used plain old acrylic black and white paint.  The stencil that you'll see in the video tutorial I cut with my Silhouette Cameo and I used Contact Paper (shelf liner) to paint on the words.  I did do some free handing here.  Sometimes it is just easier to freehand instead of making a stencil for everything.

I do recommend sealing wood signs that will be outside.  I like to use MixWax Polycylic (satin finish).  It is non-yellowing and drys very quickly.  Make sure to protect your surface when using it though.  You don't want this stuff trying on your table or counters.

I created a quick DIY tutorial of how this wood sign came together.
I hope you enjoy!

Whitewashed Barn Pallet Wood Sign

When custom orders come in, it is like trying to read into my client's heads to make their vision come to life.  This was one of those big projects that started with a "can you..." conversation.  When clients give me some creative room to move, I feel like these projects turn out much better in the end.  Luckily this client did just that.  I was told the saying and the style, the rest I was free to create around those specifications.  When the finished product was done, my client was thrilled, and there is no better feeling than that!
I video taped the start to end process of how this wood sign was made in the video linked below.
I hope you enjoy!

Christmas Decor Home Tour - 2016

This Christmas was a labor of pure love.  Surprisingly it didn't start till late into October, which is also my small businesses busy season.  Next time I have this big idea to completely change my home's decor, I should really do it in the middle of the summer (slow season).

All in all, it did get accomplished and with little hair lost to stress.  Like I said, it was a "labor of love" so really was a lot of fun.

You'll get to hear and see all the details of this craziness in my video linked below.  There was a lot, A Lot, A LOT of DIYs going.  From ornaments, to wood signs, to accessorizing, lights, garlands, inside and outside decor, nothing was left out.  I really wanted our home to have that cabin and rustic feel, which for me is just the most cozy feeling there is in our home the entire year.

Without further ado, here is my 2016 Holiday Home Decor Tour.
Hope you enjoy!

Vintage Fabric Covered Ornament

Our Christmas tree is pretty big, like 9 foot tall and 7 foot wide big.  I wanted to give the tree a whole new look this Christmas but did not want to buy all new ornaments.  With that big of a tree, that would get expensive very fast.  So I made all the ornaments on our tree this year and this is one of them!  I took the plastic red and gold round ornaments we used in the past and transformed the look!

This is a super easy and inexpensive way to take something old and make them new again.  I created an easy to follow DIY tutorial video below if you'd like to create these ornaments for yourself.
Hope you enjoy!

FREE Christmas Decor from Nature

This was a snowballing kind of project.

It started with me wanting some white branches for the top of my Christmas tree.  After I did that batch of branches, I realized how much I loved them and how easy and inexpensive it was, then next thing you know I'm throwing branches in decor all over my house.

You've been warned.

So in addition to the Christmas tree topper, I also have a couple of vases filled with them, and even created a beautiful dining room table centerpiece.  You can see all that in the video below.

I created a super fun video to show you how to create these gorgeous, easy, and free holiday decor pieces.

Hope you enjoy!

Framed Wood Sign - If you think our hands are full...

Most days I can definitely relate to the message on this wood sign.  My hands are always full will a cheerleader daughter and toddler son.  However, our hearts are always full will love.

These framed wood signs are so chic and add an extra little bit of classy farmhouse to my decor.  The mix of wood and crisp lines are a great combo.  Sort of a layering effect.  It's just the right mix of textures.

I created a full tutorial on how to make framed wood signs here:

To see how I created this exact wood sign you can find that in the video tutorial below.

Wedding Gift Wood Sign

Anything personalized makes a great gift for anyone, but they are especially nice for wedding gifts.  I loved the concept of this one.  It was a custom order from a client who sent me a photo and asked me to recreate it with the bride and groom's names and wedding date.  I sincerely love how it turned out.  It is the exact rustic look that I love so much.

I created a DIY video below of how I made this wood sign.
Hope you find inspiration and enjoy!
