Deer Head Pallet Sign

Many of my tutorials and video are actually orders I receive from clients.  I'm making the product anyway, might as well film it too!  Well, this project was actually one for myself!  I've been dreaming up my Christmas mantel for awhile now.  Last year it was just very "blah."  So this year I really want it to be something I'll love!

This deer head pallet sign will be the centerpiece of the dreamy Christmas mantel I have in my head.  Until I actually can work on my Christmas decor, I played pretend and added it to my fall mantel to get an idea of scale and the look.  Who knew it would actually work with my fall mantel too?!  Two in one deal!  I'll have to remember this for next year.

Of course, I did a DIY video on how this was made.
I hope you enjoy!

Fall Porch Tour

On November 1st, all my Halloween came down and my fall went up.
It was a marathon day of cleaning, packing, and unpacking, all at once.  But I made it happen!

I was excited to transform my porch from The Nightmare Before Halloween themed to cutesy fall.
I built the CRATE, PALLET SHUTTER, ladder, and lantern hook for this look.  I'll link those tutorials below.  I also painted the wood pumpkins in the seating area.

The turkey burlap wreath is my favorite!!!  Such a cute Pinterest find, I had to do it!

I created a walk through tour of my front porch, hope you enjoy!

DIY Wood Crate

When you can save yourself money by making it yourself, nine times out of ten, that's what I'll do.  Crate sell upwards of $15 each at the craft store.  I need about four of these for a craft show (you can see my display HERE).  I used scrap wood and pallet wood and made myself 4 of these crates and saved myself $40-$60 and it was simple too!

Once my craft show was over I knew they would come in handy for more than just my display.  I was able to incorporate this one into my fall porch decor!  I added some accessories and it added the height I needed by my front door.

I create a simple DIY video to share with you how I created this exact wood crate.
Hope you enjoy!

Christmas Craft & Decor Haul!

Let's face it, it's just barely November and all of us crafters have been thinking about Christmas for weeks now.  Am I right?  While everyone else complains that the stores are filling with holiday decor well before Halloween, we are the ones buying it up!

I've decided to overhaul our Christmas tree decor this year and go with the ever popular buffalo plaid (black/red checked) print with the rustic deer heads, outdoors theme.  I've always had a rustic cabin feel for our Christmas decor.  It is just so warm and cozy.  However, we are changing it just a little this year.

I can't wait to get started working on the Christmas ornaments that will go on the tree and I am SO EXCITED to put this years mantel together too!

Check out my video below that has a an up close look at all the things I'll be using in this holiday's home decor.  Make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel while you are there to see all the upcoming tutorial videos were I use all this fun stuff!

Hope you enjoy!

Quick Spray Paint Makeover

I have a confession.  I am a home decor hoarder.  Ok, maybe not, but I do have a hard time getting rid of things that go out of style.  I like to think I can always rework things to make them work with my current decor.

I held onto these very heavy planters for quick awhile before I stumbled upon them again.  They were definitely not going to work for me the way there were, so it was time to take out the spray paint.  I used an oil rubbed bronze to give them a metal look instead of the stucco earthy look.  Then I sealed them with a water resistant spray since they will be outside.

The darker color give them more versatility.  I have them in my Halloween decor right now on the front porch.  I hope to plant some mums in them once Halloween is over.  Then I think they will fit in with my rustic Christmas decor after that.

I made a quick makeover video to show you just how easy and quick it was.  I also include video of how they are being used right now in my Halloween porch decor.

Hope you enjoy!

DIY Pallet Shutter

We created this shutter for a wood working workshop that me and a friend host monthly.  We liked the idea that you could use this shutter in a bunch of different ways.  By adding a hook to the front it made it versatile so you could hang a wreath, a lantern, a picture or whatever matches your decor.  We also liked that it could be used inside or outside.  Add a picture hanger to the back and you can even hang it on the wall.  So many great options!

The even better news about this project is that it's EASY!  Definitely a great beginner wood workers project.  Not a lot of cutting and easy assembly.

I share with you in my video tutorial below, step by step how to create this awesome home decor piece.
Hope you enjoy!
