Hanging Mason Jar Light

I am all about everything mason jar!  I've seen some beautiful light fixtures made with these popular mason jars that are just gorgeous!  I wanted to give it a try myself and started small with just a single mason jar.  I show you in this DIY video how to create your own simple handing mason jar light.  This was simple enough that now I'm ready to make tackle a larger light fixture in the future!

I purchased my light kit for $6 from Ikea.  (Hemma)
Make sure your light kit has a removable ring

Top that's all assembled - see the video below of how to do this
Final step of the light building process!
I hope you love this light fixture as much as I do and try creating one for your own home!

Such a pretty, rustic, primitive and classic look

Here's the DIY tutorial! Enjoy!

DOLLAR TREE HAUL!

Who with me in their love for the Dollar Tree!?!?!

I LOVE THE DOLLAR TREE!  So do my kiddos.  We are very lucky that we have a very nice store not too far from us.  It's well kept, clean, organized and I always enjoy a good stroll through their aisles.

I feel like I'm thrifty and creative enough that I can take my dollars and stretch them at this store to create things with little investment and big impact!  I also really love their "school" selection.  I have been homeschooling for about a year now our now 3 1/2 year old.  He SO MUCH enjoys his school time with mom.  Dollar tree has supplied a lot of great things that we've incorporated into his learning.

In addition to that they also have some great cleaners in there.  I also lucked out and found some great new bathroom accessories for our guest bathroom!!  So check out the video below to see all of my amazing finds!

Easy Blanket Ladder

We created this project for our monthly workshop that we offer!  It's a crazy fun ladies night out event where women bring their drinks and snacks.  We provide all the materials and tools as well as do all the prep work for them.  They come, build, paint/stain/finish their projects, have fun, socialize and leave with a great home decor piece!  We even break out the power tools from time to time!

You can check out our workshop page here:

This was our September 2016 workshop project and everyone did so good and they turned out great!  Another reason I love these workshop, I also get one of the great projects for my own home because, of course, I build the sample project.  WIN WIN!

(2) 2x'2's @ 5' each
(4) 2x2's @ 18" each

Connect everything with 2.5" wood screws

Finish your ladder however you'd like!  Paint, wood stain, distress, gloss - whatever fits your style!
This is a simple concept project - two legs and 4 rungs connects together with screws!  It's also very inexpensive!  All you need are (2) 2x2's and (8) 2.5" wood screws!

I created a great step by step video tutorial to show you how you can create one of these for your own home!

ENJOY!

Fall Decor Tag

I can not tel you how much I enjoyed making this video!  It was my first "tag" video.  Basically you get "tagged" by someone to do this challenge or you see a tag and everyone that wants to do it is then "tagged."  So now that that part is explained, now let me explain this actual video.  This whole video is a series of 10 questions all focused on the topic "fall decor."

Here are the 10 questions:
Questions:
1. When do you start decorating for fall?
2. What is your fall decor style?
3. What is your favorite store to shop for fall home decor?
4. How many pumpkins do you own?
5. Do you decorate the outside of your home also?
6. Is thanksgiving hosted at your home?
7. What is your favorite fall food to cook?
8. Will you be making any fall DIYs?
9. What is your favorite fall candle?
10. What is your favorite place in your home to decorate?

You'll see in the video below how I answered these questions.  It was SO MUCH FUN!  I just love this topic and I share some photos of my own fall decor and past decor.

If you have a blog or a YouTube channel, consider yourself TAGGED!
Have fun and tackle this fun tag!

Hope you enjoy the video!

Framing a Wood Sign

I sort of wanted to avoid making this type of wood sign.  It is a lot of work and time that goes into regular wood signs.  The addition of the frame just adds much more work and time on top of it.  However, I really had a vision for a space above my new blanket ladder and one of these framed signs was exactly it.

After a few Pinterest searches, I knew I had a handle on the "how to" part.  I hit the lumber store and stocked up on 1"x2" furring strips, which are luckily very inexpensive.

Now that I've created a few, I am just very much in love with the rustic farmhouse look of them.  Sometimes things are just worth the extra effort.

I used a scrap piece of pine (common board) I had laying around and painted it white.  Then went through the steps I've included in the video tutorial below.  I hope it helps someone that is also looking into creating one of these beautiful signs for themselves!

Enjoy!

Grandkids Photo Clip Sign

My parents just happen to be a set of those over the top, involved and spoiling type of grandparents to my kiddos. How lucky are my kids, right?  This is the perfect little gift to give to those proud grandparents in your life!

Size: 5.5" x 18"
Wood stain: Jacobean by Minwax
Paint: White by Apple Barrel

Clips are mini black clothes pins from Michael's

I also used just plain old hot glue to attach the clothes pins to the front.

See the start to finish of this wood sign in the video linked below.

Bike Wash Sprinkler!

If there was one thing I would make for my son, over and over again, it would be this bike wash.  He is OBSESSED with it!  He is obsessed with real car washes in general.  When this idea popped up on Pinterest I knew this would make the perfect birthday gift for him!

His birthday was in April, and it was still warming up so we left this put together in our basement for him to run laps through without water.  When it warmed up, he had a total ball with it!  I just love seeing his smile!

After looking at a few different designs we went for THIS ONE because it had a very good detailed set of instructions (that were printable) for us to follow.

My hubby cut all the pipes with the miter saw, which was super quick and easy.  Make sure you have all the connections and it goes together like building blocks!  We did add adhesive to the bottom connections because it kept getting bumped and would come apart, but we want to be able to take some of it apart for storage over the colder months, so we didn't glue the entire thing together.

Here is a video of us putting the pieces together, drilling the holes, and of course our kiddos breaking it in.

Enjoy!!

Glitter Mason Jars

GLITTER.

End of blog.

JUST KIDDING!  I think everyone has a love/hate relationship with glitter.  Some see glitter and RUN.  Others take on the challenge.  As much of a clean freak as I am, glitter is just too good not to use on my crafts!!!!!!!

This craft is a fav.  Mason jars in general are one of my favs.  Combine the two and it's magic!

I used a combination of Mod Podge, extra fine glitter, and a Krylon spray sealer to make these jars.  Use your imagination and create them however you want!  Colors, uses, designs - skys the limit!

I created a tutorial video to show you step by step how to make these fun and glittery jars!

Enjoy!

Family pallet Sign

This sign reads so true!  There's nothing in life more valuable then the love of our family.

I recreated this saying for a friend who is giving it at as a gift.  I think this sign would make an amazing gift for any family!

The rustic style is absolutely my favorite favorite favorite too.  Super rustic, super chippy, super aged, I love all the things that aren't perfect about this sign.  As a very polished person (I like to think so anyway), it is odd to me that this style would appeal to me.  But I always pair these rustic elements with very clean up accessories such as white porcelain vases and newer items to give my space an eclectic feel.

Watch how this pallet signs comes together from start to finish in the video I created below.

Inspirational Pallet - Wood Sign

I think every home should be filled with inspirational quotes, scripture (if you so choose), and things that motivate you on a daily basis.  Our days can get pretty crazy.  From school, to sports, to general toddler wildness, work, etc.  It's always nice to look up and see those reminders.

This wood pallet sign was sort of involved.  Anytime it's a "pallet" it's usually a built sign to start with.  Then there is distressing of the wood.  And also the adding of the scripture, which is several steps in itself.

So take a look at the video below to see everything that goes into creating a piece of art!  I have to say, I do wish these signs only good 5 1/2 minutes to really make, lol!  So many ideas so little time!

Enjoy!

Grateful, Thankful, Blessed Pallet - Wood Sign

Sometimes the most simple signs have the biggest impact.

Grateful, Thankful, Blessed

I hope we all sort of feel this way at least, MOST of the time.  Sometimes we need to sit down and remind ourselves that we are truly blessed and should be thankful for the things we have.  Only then can we be grateful!

This wood sign is 5"x20" and was made for a friend of mine.  However, I also have this saying in my own home, just as a reminder.

I used Minwax brand wood stain in Jacobean color (MY FAVORITE!).  It is a reclaimed piece of wood from a pallet and I just LOVE the rustic look that pallet wood gives to every wood sign.  Beautiful textures!
