IKEA FINTORP - Farmhouse Style

When decor can also double as storage, you've got yourself a winning combo!  The end of my kitchen island cabinet was looking quite "blah."  I always thought it would be the perfect place to hang some hooks or something.  Pinterest inspired me to grab one of these FINTORP rails the last shopping trip through there.  (Can I just say how much I LOVE IKEA too!)

After installing this simple little solution about a week ago now, I must say I just love it!  It's handy, it's storage, and it's cute.  It fits right in with my decor and gives the space some life.

If you don't have an IKEA or just hate the thought of shopping there (because you need a couple hours to spend there at least, every time you go), then I share with you in my newest DIY video a great inexpensive alternative to the IKEA Fintorp.

Pallet Style Sign Using New Wood

Certain wood sign orders I opt for new wood vs. pallet (reclaimed) wood.  This happened to be one of those orders.  Usually when a client specifies that the sign they are ordering is for a wedding gift or a bridal shower gift, I go with new wood, unless they really want an old rustic look.
I was still wanting that rustic warn look, but with a cleaner look.  The new wood with this white washing technique was the way to go for this one.  I have done white washing a few different ways.  In this DIY I used a black background instead of a gray or dark wood stain.  It complimented the black stenciling on the front just right.

Farmhouse End Table MAKEOVER

I always love a good makeover.  
Who doesn't like to see before and afters?  
This DIY has an amazing "after."  The "before" are our original end tables that are probably 12 years old.  They are solid wood and very heavy.  They are also very sturdy and I knew they had a lot of life still left in them, even though they looked rough from day to day wear and tear.
To give them an updated look I (and my kiddos) painted the base with a chalk paint.  LOVE THAT STUFF.  No prep work involved except for a good cleaning.  It did take 3 coats of paint because of the dark wood color the tables started with.  But it was easy and didn't take too long after the first coat was on.  It also dried very fast, so once one table was painted I was able to go back and forth very quickly from one to the other.
The tops are made from oak common board in 1"x4" size.  I measured the top of my tables and added a inch so it would hang off the top but not add too much to the table's over all width.
I also added new hardware to the drawers which really gave them that added updated touch they needed.  I bought this hardware from Walmart.  A set of 2 was around $6.  They were a silver color and I spray painted them with my oil rubbed bronze spray paint before attaching them to the drawers.
The tables work so well with our home's decor now!  It's amazing what some paint and a half a days work can do for a piece of furniture!  Such a difference!

DIY Heat Transfer Vinyl Shirt

First of all - a HUGE thank you to www.Parsbee.com for inspiring this DIY.  They were so sweet to send me some of the wonderful products that they offer in their online store.  One of those products is their awesome HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl).

Their HTV worked great on this raglan shirt I picked up from Five & Below.  The red sleeves inspired this baseball themed shirt.  I love that it is personalized just for me and that having my Silhouette machine and heat press allow me to have that creative control.

DIY $10 Magnolia Wreath

This may not be the "signature" Magnolia Wreath - trust me, I would kill for that one.  But I'm just not up for buying several $100 wreaths, so I'm back to my creative ways and made one myself.  I just needed a smaller scale wreath for a shiplap framed wood sign I made (click HERE for that tutorial), so making my own fit the bill and the budget.

Hobby Lobby just happens to have magnolia leaf bushes for about $18.  Hit the 50% off sale and it's just $9 for it.  Then I used a Dollar Tree "grapevine" wreath for the base.  Other supplies I have on hand, so this whole wreath only cost $10 total to bring to life.  Much better then the $95 price tag.  Although, again, I would still love to have several of those in my home!

Farmhouse Decor BIG Hobby Lobby Haul

I have never loved Hobby Lobby as much as I do right now.  I've always loved HobLob.  I am there a lot getting supplies for orders and projects.  However, their home decor is just spot on at the moment, and everything I was wanting they had.  It was almost too much good decor that I had a hard time not grabbing everything to squeeze it all in.

I think in the end I did a good job of just grabbing stuff I had a good idea of what I was going to use it for or where it would go without just randomly putting things into my cart and saying "I'll figure it out when I get it home."

This whole video today is about the amazing farmhouse style items I picked up at Hobby Lobby and also I share some photos at the end of where and how those items were used in my home.  I hope you find some inspiration if we share the same taste and design style!

Monogram Pallet Wood Sign

I always enjoy having some creative freedom with client orders.  They tell me the info and style they are looking for and I get to run with how it will ultimately end up looking.  Of course I always do a mock up of my design and send a screen shot before actually fully making the order.  However, it sure is not the same as seeing the piece all put together.  I have found more times than not, that they are pleasantly surprised to actually see my written and worded design actually come to life.  I also really enjoy seeing my own ideas become an actual piece of decor.

This pallet sign is actually pretty simple, but is also has a lot of detail.  I made this wood sign 18" wide x 28" long.  It is a bigger wood sign, but isn't over whelming.  The added jute accents really putt it all together.  I created a video tutorial to show you how I made this monogram pallet wood sign.
