DIY Farmhouse Window - Painting on Glass

Sometimes, well a lot of times, clients come to me with requests of things I'm not quite sure if I can pull off or not.  I always at least give it a good try before I say no.  This specific client had a farmhouse window and wanted certain colors to match her home.  Unfortunately vinyl doesn't come in endless colors.  I sure do wish it did though!  I was needing a rustic blue/gray so I decided to try and stencil the glass with paint instead of going my normal route of doing a vinyl decal for the window.

I created a DIY video of this process linked below.  You can see there how it went!
Hope you enjoy!

The BIG Christmas Purge

Year after year I pull out all these plastic tote boxes full of Christmas stuff.  Then I start digging through each box trying to figure out what I want to use and most of the time, half of it goes back into those boxes and stored for another year.

This year, I couldn't take it anymore.  I finally caved and took the time to go through each and every single Christmas tote box and purged as much as I possibly could.  I ended up with 7 empty tote boxes!  Can you imagine storing that much unused stuff for so long?

So it may have taken quite a bit of time, but I am so glad to have gotten through it.  Next year should be much nicer when it comes time to decorate again.

I did a fun little video of the purging process.
I hope you enjoy!

Christmas Gift Haul

We all had such a wonderful Christmas and were overly spoiled by our family.  Hubby really spoiled me this year too.

Besides all the gifts we had such fun visiting with family and friends for 3 straight days.  The holiday's always bring people together and for that I am so very grateful.  It really is more about the ones you love and not about the gifts you receive.

With all that said, I also enjoyed giving all the gifts we carefully selected for everyone.  I just sat back and watched as everyone opened their gifts, forgetting I even had any gifts in front of me.  I took in the moments and tried to cherish the smiles and joy.

I decided to make a Christmas Gift Haul video to share with everyone what I did get for Christmas as I always enjoy watching everyone else's haul videos.
For anyone reading this that was apart of our holiday's, thank you for the gifts but most importantly thank you for being a part of our lives.
Hope you enjoy this little video!

Christmas FREEBIE - Gift Tags

Wrapping presents has been something I've enjoyed since I was little.  I'd always take over the task of wrapping presents for my mom and she happily allowed it.  I'm sure they didn't look like much back then, but I sure have continued to enjoy the process of making gifts look beautiful for their recipients.
If you haven't already wrapped all your gifts (like I have), then here is a great FREEBIE for you!  Simply right click and hit "save" on the photo attached below.   You'll want to print these on 8.5"x11" cardstock.
Right click the photo above and hit "save"

Hope you enjoy!
And Happy Holidays!

Wrapping Paper Gift Bag

This little trick and changed me life!  This Christmas there were so many oddly shaped gifts that I needed lots of gift bags.  At $1.00 a bag (or more), some might not bat an eye at buying their bags, but I needed A LOT and $30.00 on trash was not my idea of good spending.  I remembered seeing somewhere that you can take gift wrap and turn it into gift bags.  So I found a simple tutorial and like I said, it has changed my life!  I'll never buy gift bags again.  It's so simple and so easy.
I'm so excited to share this trick with you in my video tutorial linked below.
I hope you enjoy and find this tutorial helpful!

EASY Gingerbread Treat

Yes, sometimes even this momma waits till the last minute for some things.  The treat for my daughter's class party happen to be one of them.  I couldn't find anything that was age and gender appropriate that would work for older age kids (5th graders).  It's a tough age!

I finally hit Pinterest and said to myself, find something cute, easy, and FAST.  These fit the bill.  It really was a super fast project.  I made 2 dozen of them in just about 15 minutes.  I let them dry another 15 minutes and they were ready for the party!

I think these would also be great in a stocking, for a holiday party, Christmas eve/day snacks for the kids, gifts to give, even leave one for Santa!

I created an easy to follow video tutorial linked below.  You'll find the supplies and step by step instructions there.
I hope you enjoy!

Mod Podge Wood Sign - Red Christmas Tree Truck

Mod Podge, oh how I love the...
I use Mod Podge for so many things (this is not a sponsored post).  I just genuinely love it.  I have gone through a bottle per month this holiday season.  Whether it was for gift making, orders from my Etsy shop, or going through it making stuff for my craft shows, I use it a lot.

This is another great project using Mod Podge.  I created an easy to follow DIY tutorial video linked below.  I hope it gives you some inspirations to create your own pieces using this magic stuff.  If you haven't tried Mod Podge before, I highly suggest you give it a try sometime!
Hope you enjoy this tutorial!

Baby it's cold outside - Wood Entry Sign

The best wood signs are the ones you can keep up and enjoy longer than one month out of the year.  This "baby it's cold outside" wood entry sign can be used all winter long, but also fits into the different holidays that fall within the winter months.  That is a win win if you ask me.

The dimensions of this entry sign is 11.25" wide x 48" tall.  I used a 1"x12" oak common board for this wood sign.  I also used plain old acrylic black and white paint.  The stencil that you'll see in the video tutorial I cut with my Silhouette Cameo and I used Contact Paper (shelf liner) to paint on the words.  I did do some free handing here.  Sometimes it is just easier to freehand instead of making a stencil for everything.

I do recommend sealing wood signs that will be outside.  I like to use MixWax Polycylic (satin finish).  It is non-yellowing and drys very quickly.  Make sure to protect your surface when using it though.  You don't want this stuff trying on your table or counters.

I created a quick DIY tutorial of how this wood sign came together.
I hope you enjoy!

Whitewashed Barn Pallet Wood Sign

When custom orders come in, it is like trying to read into my client's heads to make their vision come to life.  This was one of those big projects that started with a "can you..." conversation.  When clients give me some creative room to move, I feel like these projects turn out much better in the end.  Luckily this client did just that.  I was told the saying and the style, the rest I was free to create around those specifications.  When the finished product was done, my client was thrilled, and there is no better feeling than that!
I video taped the start to end process of how this wood sign was made in the video linked below.
I hope you enjoy!

Christmas Decor Home Tour - 2016

This Christmas was a labor of pure love.  Surprisingly it didn't start till late into October, which is also my small businesses busy season.  Next time I have this big idea to completely change my home's decor, I should really do it in the middle of the summer (slow season).

All in all, it did get accomplished and with little hair lost to stress.  Like I said, it was a "labor of love" so really was a lot of fun.

You'll get to hear and see all the details of this craziness in my video linked below.  There was a lot, A Lot, A LOT of DIYs going.  From ornaments, to wood signs, to accessorizing, lights, garlands, inside and outside decor, nothing was left out.  I really wanted our home to have that cabin and rustic feel, which for me is just the most cozy feeling there is in our home the entire year.

Without further ado, here is my 2016 Holiday Home Decor Tour.
Hope you enjoy!

Vintage Fabric Covered Ornament

Our Christmas tree is pretty big, like 9 foot tall and 7 foot wide big.  I wanted to give the tree a whole new look this Christmas but did not want to buy all new ornaments.  With that big of a tree, that would get expensive very fast.  So I made all the ornaments on our tree this year and this is one of them!  I took the plastic red and gold round ornaments we used in the past and transformed the look!

This is a super easy and inexpensive way to take something old and make them new again.  I created an easy to follow DIY tutorial video below if you'd like to create these ornaments for yourself.
Hope you enjoy!

FREE Christmas Decor from Nature

This was a snowballing kind of project.

It started with me wanting some white branches for the top of my Christmas tree.  After I did that batch of branches, I realized how much I loved them and how easy and inexpensive it was, then next thing you know I'm throwing branches in decor all over my house.

You've been warned.

So in addition to the Christmas tree topper, I also have a couple of vases filled with them, and even created a beautiful dining room table centerpiece.  You can see all that in the video below.

I created a super fun video to show you how to create these gorgeous, easy, and free holiday decor pieces.

Hope you enjoy!

Framed Wood Sign - If you think our hands are full...

Most days I can definitely relate to the message on this wood sign.  My hands are always full will a cheerleader daughter and toddler son.  However, our hearts are always full will love.

These framed wood signs are so chic and add an extra little bit of classy farmhouse to my decor.  The mix of wood and crisp lines are a great combo.  Sort of a layering effect.  It's just the right mix of textures.

I created a full tutorial on how to make framed wood signs here:

To see how I created this exact wood sign you can find that in the video tutorial below.

Wedding Gift Wood Sign

Anything personalized makes a great gift for anyone, but they are especially nice for wedding gifts.  I loved the concept of this one.  It was a custom order from a client who sent me a photo and asked me to recreate it with the bride and groom's names and wedding date.  I sincerely love how it turned out.  It is the exact rustic look that I love so much.

I created a DIY video below of how I made this wood sign.
Hope you find inspiration and enjoy!
