DIY Aged Metal with Vinegar
There are a couple of reasons I do these crazy things, like experiment with vinegar. First, I can never find exactly what I am looking for so I end up having to make it myself anyway. Second, I also always always always try to use what I have on hand before I go out buying new things.
In the case of this DIY, I had this bucket on hand, it was the perfect size, just not the right look. So I started researching how to age it myself. I found lots of options, some where a little crazy (toilet bowl cleaner??), this one was the most simple. One ingredient and BOOM - amazing results.
I'm sure different metals create different results (maybe no results at all); however, for me personally this worked great!
I share with you in my DIY video below the step by step of how easy this really is.
I hope you enjoy!

DIY Wood Floating Shelves
When you have odd ball walls in your home, you have to get creative. This was just an odd space that I never quite knew what to do with. It's in the entry, next to the bathroom door and my daughter's bedroom door, and to top it off it's also next to an angled wall. I wanted something that wouldn't get knocked over and it couldn't stick too far out. I couldn't do a gallery wall because it's not far from my living room that already had a gallery display. I wanted something clean and organized too.
That's a lot to want, right? So for the longest time I just never liked what I had there. I came across THIS POST (from the Thrift & Chic blog) for $5.00 floating shelves. I read over the instructions and liked the price tag, then realized it was a basic design I could definitely handle.
You'll see in my DIY video below how easy they really are. I did have my hubby help install, it was just much easier with two hands, and he likes to use the power tools once in awhile too ;-)
I hope you enjoy the start to finish tutorial I am including below!

Aging Hardware with a Blow Torch
Sometimes you love things, but then for some reason just wished you loved them more. That's how I felt about the pallet chalkboard I made for above my kitchen cabinets. It was exactly what I wanted but was missing something.
I was at good old Walmart and found these flat L brackets and wished they weren't so shiny so I could put them on my chalkboard. I started researching ways to make them not so flashy and after ruling out regular spray paint I found that you could take a blow torch to burn off the shiny zinc that coated the metal. LUCKY ME, I had a blow torch and knew I could handle that!
This is not a project for the beginner. If you've never used a blow torch before, give yourself some time to get used to it before attempting this. SAFETY is always important when using a blow torch too. I explain and show you how to attempt this DIY in my video tutorial below.
I hope you enjoy!

DIY Super Bowl Party
I love parties and I love to plan parties every chance I get! When the Super Bowl rolled around, I could have made food and everyone would have been happy, Super Bowls are all about the food, right? However, not for me and not in my house. I have to make it "cute" and "fun" and "festive."
The best part about it all was outside of all the food and ingredients, all the decorating maybe cost about $20 give or take. Here's how I did it. I used what I had. I hit the Dollar Tree. I used FREE printables to accessorize.
Here is a link to my Party Ideas Pinterest board if you'd like to see where I found some of the items you see here.
I went ahead and did a party tour video to share with you some of the ideas I used in our own Super Bowl party. I hope that you find it helpful and inspires you!
Here's the video - hope you enjoy!

IKEA FINTORP - Farmhouse Style
When decor can also double as storage, you've got yourself a winning combo! The end of my kitchen island cabinet was looking quite "blah." I always thought it would be the perfect place to hang some hooks or something. Pinterest inspired me to grab one of these FINTORP rails the last shopping trip through there. (Can I just say how much I LOVE IKEA too!)
After installing this simple little solution about a week ago now, I must say I just love it! It's handy, it's storage, and it's cute. It fits right in with my decor and gives the space some life.
If you don't have an IKEA or just hate the thought of shopping there (because you need a couple hours to spend there at least, every time you go), then I share with you in my newest DIY video a great inexpensive alternative to the IKEA Fintorp.
Hope you enjoy!
