Bubble Guppies Party: Outfit *FREE DOWNLOAD*

This was my backup plan of sorts. First was the order an embroidered shirt from Etsy, but this is the second year in a row that I wait too long to order without now having to paying high rush order fees. Second, was to make a heat transfer vinyl shirt.  But the orange flocked material I wanted was on backorder till MAY.  Of course.. So here we are now.  A printed on heat transfer.  Which is just fine.  It works. I used the Avery Dark Fabric Transfers

If you are interested in making your own I've included the free file download below.  I think you will be able to change the name or cut out the name and add your own to personalize it.

Bubble Guppies Party: Decor

Decorating for parties is one of my absolute favorite thing to do... ever.

I love looking for ideas, coming up with ideas, making spaces work for me, taking simple balloons and streamers and creating a new world and atmosphere for the guests.

I covered the food for the party HERE

A lot of the decor are within the three food/drink areas for the party.

The guest tables had fun sand bucket centerpieces, fishing games, and coloring pages.

I created jelly fish from paper lanterns and hung those from the ceiling fans.

The dining table I added balloons and streamers to look like water and bubbles.

I also made a special banner for my son, which actually stayed up the entire week as we celebrated his birthday.

I added green streamers for seaweed and fish cut outs here and there to add an under the sea look.

I made waves out of stacked table cloths which made for a nice effect and backdrop to the gift opening area.

And the fishing game also served as nice decor when not in use.

Bubble Guppies Party: Food

I had so much fun planning the food for my son's Bubble Guppies/Under the Sea themed birthday party.  It wasn't just the food but the different containers that the food was in that was fun too!

I had 3 different stations. 

The first was the biggest - the dessert buffet.  

The centerpiece was an amazing cake a friend made for my son.

There was also fruit, cookies, marshmallow pops, dessert goldfish, suckers, and taffy.  All ocean themed.

Next was the drink station that I put on the opposite side of the dessert buffet, this allowed the backdrop to be double sided and do double duty for me.

The drinks included blue punch, juice barrels, and water. 

I also had the treat bags here to balance the space.

The last station was the snack bar.

Here there were the chips and dips, sandwiches, extra desserts that didn't fit on the dessert bar, and extra plates/napkins/utensils.

Bubble Guppies Party: Games

Us adults can decorate till we are blue in the face, make every little detail perfect, and organize the perfect event... but all the kids really want is to HAVE FUN!

We had a good age range of kids at our 2 year old's birthday party.  Youngest was 3 months and oldest was 10 years old.  Obviously the littlest one didn't really come into play with the activities, but we did have  about a dozen kiddos to keep entertained.

We had a Bubble Guppies/Under the Sea theme so I ran with the "bubble" part of it.

I came up with three fun activities that would be great for all the kids we had for guests.  You can see all those great activities in the video I've included below.

$2.00 Kids Balance Beam - Saturday Randomness

Welcome to Saturday Randomness!

You read that right - only $2 to make a fun outside activity for your kiddos!

I purchased one 8' long landscaping timber beam from Home Depot for $1.97!  (I think it's on special right now, originally $3.47)

Then I sanded it and sanded it and sanded it!  They are pretty rough and we don't want splinters in our little one's feet.  I ended up cutting mine down to 6' long so it was easier to move if need be and also to hack off the end that were nearly impossible to sand down evenly.

Then I cut 2 scraps of wood I had down to 12" each, again sanded them well, and placed them towards the ends of the beam.

I used 1 1/2" wood screws to secure the wood scraps to the beam.

Flip your beam over and it's ready for the fun!

I do think that I will be filling in some of the cracks in the top of the beam with some drywall fixer putty (that's the technique term... in my house).  Then I think I'll let my daughter paint it.  She is definitely creative like her momma.

What I like most about this project, it's great for both my 2 year old and my nearly 9 year old.  They can play together or play on it by themselves.  It's not always easy to find backyard fun for the older kids.  Not only is this one CHEAP but it's very simple and easy.

Crock Pot Cleaning Tips

Make your crock pot like new again!

**Well ventilated space**

My crcok pot is only about a year old, but it's already put on a lot of miles.  Because, like most families, we have busy schedules.  There's nothing better then a hot cooked meal, cooking away, while you can focus on other tasks.  Some nights we have sports practice that my daughter needs to get to before my husband ever makes it home from work, so the crock pot is our saviour!  Hot meals, anytime, for everyone!

So, now that I'm done with my crock pot love rant, onto the real meaning of this tutorial.  Even after only a year of use, our crock pot was looking pretty sickly.  I grabbed a can of oven cleaner from the dollar tree, brillo pads from under the sink, used some elbow grease and now my crock pot is smiling again.

Transform Glass into White Porcelain

Like I say in my video tutorial below - I'm a complete sucker for white porcelain.  Like, I need white porcelain in my life.  Sometimes the pieces you need are just not in your graps because of time, money, or lack of finding that perfect piece at the stores.  Grab a can of spray paint and you'll be quote surprised at the instant transformation you'll get.

Kids Art Display

This is more a DIY for kids then for the adult; however, there are a few things the adult need to assist with. 

How great, give your kiddos some artistic freedom!  They will L-O-V-E it.  Not only will they get an area to display their projects, but they also get to be creative with the letters that are displayed above their art.

My daughter is 8 years old, and is a create create create girl.  She takes after her momma... a lot.  To the point where I made her this art area for her within my own craft studio.  This has given her a place to call her own, but also join me in my area while I'm creating away too.

I think this tutorial can be added to a lot of different areas in your own home.  A child's bedroom, a play room, a hall way space to your kids rooms.  My kids are always so proud of art work, I think it deserves a space to be displayed besides your refrigerator door.

Tips for Baby Sign Lanuage

First and foremost, I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL.  I am not.  I am a mom.  I have learned through other mom's, books, and YouTube videos and adapted what I've learned and found to work for MY family.  What works for us might not work for others.  However, I hope that at least there is something helpful about this blog and post for someone out there.

Now to move onto the info.  We started sign language early on with our son and as he's gotten older he really picks up on new signs very quickly because of it.  However, that doesn't mean you need to start early, I don't think that it's every too late to start.  But I did read up on this a little while pregnant and just made the decision early on to start teaching and using sign language with him at 5-6 months old.

There really is no need to teach A LOT of sign language unless your child relies on it solely for communication.  What I mean by that is, even if you only teach 5 signs to your child, you are giving them the power to communicate if they don't yet have the words and that is an amazing thing.

In the video below you'll see what words we introduced our son to, in what order, and see him using them as well.  This is just an introduction to baby/toddler signing,  If you are looking for a more in depth look I encourage you to check your library for books/videos, YouTube for a single sign at a time, and the internet for an endless amount of information on the subject.
